Terms of Service

Welcome to The Hack Pack website at thehackpack.org (the "Site"), operated by The Hack Pack, a student organization at the University of Georgia. By creating an account or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms").

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

2. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must provide a valid email address and verify it before accessing platform features.
  • You may not create multiple accounts or impersonate others.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site to attack, exploit, or probe systems you do not own or have permission to test
  • Share challenge answers, flags, or solutions outside the platform in ways that undermine the learning experience
  • Upload malicious content, malware, or content that violates others' rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or Site infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape, spam, or abuse Site features
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users

4. User-Generated Content

When you submit challenges, solutions, or other content through the Challenge Workspace or other features, you grant The Hack Pack a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content on the Site for educational purposes. You retain ownership of your original content.

You represent that any content you submit is your own original work or that you have the right to share it, and that it does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.

5. Platform Features

  • Practice Challenges: Designed for educational cybersecurity training. All activities must remain within the Site's sandboxed environment.
  • Leaderboards and Profiles: Your username, display name, points, and solve statistics are visible to other authenticated users.
  • Competitions: Additional rules may apply to specific competition events.

6. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Code of Conduct.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation. The Site is maintained by student volunteers on a best-effort basis.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Hack Pack and its officers, members, and the University of Georgia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site.

9. Intellectual Property

Site content is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 unless otherwise noted. The Hack Pack name and logo are property of the organization.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
